SATA hard disk

Hi everyone. Im wondering if my com can support SATA hard disk?

General spec of my com:
ASUS P4V8X-X motherboard
Pentium 4 2.8GHz
1 Gb RAM
80 Gb IDE hard disk
Windows XP Pro SP2

Pls tell me if im missing something crucial.

Which port do you mean?

aiyah...no called port, the orange one..its sata. on some MB, it is black or red in colour.

On my MB there are 2 SATA port. However, there are many kinds of SATA hd (SATA, SATA2,SATA3), so which 1 can i install?

you can use SATA hdd, but will got some more problem...

to play safe use SATA. if i am not mistaken, the ports are the same

sata hard disc have 2 thing you must checking,
1st is the port,
and second is depend on the sata version,
some version are not support in your comp,
and that is can repair want,
but wil have some problem later,
i have trying before use sata2 hdd in sata1 motherboard,
the problem is cant work propelly and always hanging pc.
